Events & Travel,  LEANNA WHO?,  LIFE

Revitalise Was So Much Fun

You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.

This is why I had so much fun at Revitalise.

People made friends with me and it had nothing to do with my ‘disability’. When a barrier came up there was a strong voice ready to find a work around.

For example, the shock on the managers face when he was asked to accommodate 4 wheelchair users at one booth, it was priceless, but he couldn’t refuse just because of the determination of one particular volunteer backed up by the rest of the volunteers.

We had the best time enjoying dessert, around that table we were all friends helping each other.

Being at Revitalise reminded me even more how the world isn’t designed to accommodate us which is why these centres are essential.

You know what I’m going to say funding is a big issue. I will come back to that soon 😉

At the tender age of three, Leanna Benjamin knew her place was in the limelight and that nothing else would do. From her parents' living room in Leicester, she pirouetted her way straight through school into the BBC. Just as her dreams were coming to fruition, a simple case of the flu triggered a debilitating illness that has left her with life changing consequences. Leanna Benjamin is a Graeae Theatre Write to Play alum, and a Leeds Playhouse Fuse Writer, but this is not the synopsis for her new play - it is the story of her life. And she wants to share it with you.
