A Call Rekindled A Dream

How a call rekindled a dream

Last week, I went on a very special kind of adventure! Let me tell you what happened!

It all began with a phone call, a few weeks back, that lead to me and my assistant getting on a train to London in the early Tuesday morning hours.

The journey took over six hours, due to the train we were on breaking down three minutes after leaving Leeds. We had to be towed to Doncaster; then wait there until we could catch another train.

A time for prayers

By the time we arrived in London, my body already hated me, and then I had an important day to get through ahead of me‬.

Feeling the need for some extra strength to draw from, I asked my friends to keep me in their prayers. This could, potentially, be the start of something really exciting for me.

I can tell you I was way out of my comfort zone.

It felt scary, but I did it!

What I did?

The first audition

Well, I had my first professional acting audition in over 20 odd years!

And before you get excited, I didn’t get the role.

Yes, I am disappointed, but I am so happy that I was part of a group of talented Black Female actors, all of whom are wheelchair users, auditioning.

We were going for a role in a TV show, but I don’t know which.

I thought I had put all my dreams of acting to rest, but I was invited to audition for this role and it was a huge thing for me.

Rejection is part of the journey, of course, and means I am moving closer to a success I used to believe was out of my reach.

But yeah, it sucks! lol

Now, I’m back home, in pain yet happy.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be available in 5-10 working days…

Love, L xx
