At the tender age of three, Leanna Benjamin knew her place was in the limelight and that nothing else would do.
From her parents’ living room in West Yorkshire, she pirouetted her way straight through school into the Beeb and Abbey Road’s Studio 1. But just as her dreams were coming to fruition, Leanna realised something was seriously wrong with her!
Leanna Benjamin is a Graeae Theatre Write to Play alumn, and a West Yorkshire Playhouse Fuse Writer, but this is not the synopsis for her new play – it is the story of her life.
And she wants to share it with you.
Leanna Benjamin is a passionate storyteller, performer, jewellery designer and human rights activist.
Affectionately nicknamed Triple Box by her friends, Leanna ticks the boxes black, female and disabled, putting her right in the middle of the intersectional reality she portrays with depth, empathy and a delightfully comedic touch.
